It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother. Alice Ann (Wright) Hauck of Park City, IL passed away on August 30, 2024, at Lake Forest Hospital, after an unexpected illness requiring surgery, at the age of 83. Alice was born on May 22, 1941, to Edwin Wallace and Opal Odessa (Duff) Wright in Amarillo, Texas. Alice graduated from Amarillo High School in 1959, and went on to complete one year at Amarillo Jr. College, studying Business, before marrying her first husband, Henry Georgeff, and having 3 children. At the age of 29, Alice married her second husband, Robert Galli, and went on to have 2 more children in their 18-year marriage. She was widowed from her third husband, Frederick Hauck, in 2011, after marrying in 2004. Alice overcame many obstacles and hardships throughout her life, and ultimately, this made her the strong woman and mother that we knew and loved. Despite being born with a birth defect in her right arm and hand, that prevented its use, Alice refused to say she had a "handicap," and instead demonstrated that she could do ANYTHING everyone else could, including learning to drive a manual shift car as a teen. Always a hard worker, she held a variety of jobs throughout her years and possessed a strong work ethic throughout her life. Ultimately, Alice retired from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission, after working as a Telephone Switchboard Operator for 18 years.
Raised by devout Southern Baptist parents, spirituality and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, remained an integral part of her life, and gave her strength, especially during tough times. Alice was a cherished Mother and Grammy. Her children and grandchildren were her absolute pride and joy, and she loved them fiercely, always referring to them as "The apple of my eye." Alice's children always came first in her life. The support and encouragement she showed to her children and grandchildren throughout their life was unwavering, and the love she felt for them, palpable. Alice never missed a birthday or anniversary for anyone she knew and loved. Selfless, kind and compassionate, Alice had a soft spot for anyone experiencing sadness or hardship, and would do anything she could to help them, even if it meant doing without something herself. She loved all animals, big and small, and was passionate in her quest to save all of those that were abused and neglected, utilizing Social Media to connect with a myriad of animal rescue organizations, to help in any way she could. Her 3 birds, King Tut, Jazzy, and Baby, brought her so much joy, especially as she began to spend more time at home. Alice made friends easily, and as years passed, those relationships stayed near and dear to her heart, while continuing to make new ones along the way. To Alice, happiness was beautiful flowers. Lilacs and pansies were some of her favorites, and a bouquet for Mother's Day or her Birthday, always brought a smile to her face. She prided herself on having a "green thumb" and before her health began to worsen, she loved spending her time gardening, or nursing plants back to health.
Alice is survived by 4 of her children; daughter, Stephenie (Rob) Pittroff (nee Galli); son, Victor Georgeff; son, Michael Georgeff; son, Timothy Galli; grandchildren, Casey (Jerod) Green (nee Brooks); Grace Pittroff; Tyler Pittroff; Paige Pittroff; great-grandchildren, Janessa and Derrick; brother, Lloyd (Carol) Wright; numerous nephews, cousins, a niece and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Frederick Hauck (d. 2011); daughter, Christy (Georgeff) Cunningham (d. 2008) (Mother of Casey); granddaughter, Vicky Georgeff (d. 2009) (Mother of Janessa and Derrick); Mom (d. 1968) and Dad (d. 1973); brother, Sonny Wright (d. 1996); sisters, Joy (Wright) Oliver (d. 1991) and Nancy (Wright) Brooks (d. 2017).
