IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ana N.
Roque
May 15, 1943 – January 24, 2026
Ana Nilda Roque, lovingly known as Titi, Nilda, Yaya, and Grandma, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, in Highland Park, Illinois, at the age of 82, after a courageous battle with lung and bone cancer.
Born on May 15, 1943, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Ana was the cherished daughter of Rafaela Roque Santini and Enrique Camilo Roque, both of whom preceded her in death.
Ana was a woman whose warmth and compassion touched everyone she met. She had a rare gift for making others feel instantly at ease—always ready to share a conversation, offer words of comfort, or lighten the moment with her humor and grace. Deeply empathetic, she felt the emotions of those around her and responded with genuine care and kindness.
Family was the heart of Ana’s life. She is survived by her loving daughters, Nilda Ivette Mercado (Juan Antonio Mercado, Jr), and Sabrina Ivette Roque Martinez. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Angel Enrique Peña. Ana was a devoted grandmother to three grandchildren —Madeline Ivette Mercado (Lisa Napoli), Juan Antonio Mercado III, and Merrick Brandon Silva. She was a proud and loving great-grandmother to three great-grandchildren—Jolene, Joshua, and Jordan—who brought her endless joy and pride.
Ana was preceded in death by her sister, Norma Iris Fernandez, and her brother, Jose Enrique “Henry” Roque.
She embraced life with joy and enthusiasm. Ana had a lifelong love for bingo, a passion she enjoyed for over 50 years, and in her younger years she delighted in salsa dancing, moving with rhythm and spirit. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family, creating memories filled with laughter, love, and togetherness.
Ana Nilda Roque will be remembered for her kindness, her humor, her deep love for her family, and the warmth she brought into every room. Her legacy of love and compassion will live on through the generations she cherished so dearly.
