Angela Marie Donofrio (née Piacenza), a lifelong resident of Highwood, Illinois, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026, at the age of 88.

Angie’s life began with an extraordinary journey. She was born at sea aboard the Italian ocean liner The Rex while her young mother was traveling from Italy to reunite with Angie’s father and family in the United States. She was the daughter of the late Dominic and Irma Piacenza and dear sister of the late Linda and Remo Tolari.

Angie and her devoted husband, Vincent Donofrio, shared 69 wonderful years of marriage, building a beautiful life and family together. She was the loving mother of Sam (Patrice) Donofrio, Jim (Julie) Donofrio, and Gina (Steve) Boettcher.

A homemaker, Angie’s greatest joy was her family. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Michael, Nicholas, Jack, Danny, Sarah, Emily, Natalie, and Jennifer, and a cherished aunt to her nephews and niece.

Angie will be remembered for her love of family, her love of sharing Italian cooking, and the family traditions she cherished. She shared a special bond with her sister, Linda, who was her partner in many fun adventures and stories that will be told for years. She especially loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and performances and treasured the special times they shared. Her strong Catholic faith was an important part of her life and a source of strength throughout the years.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, September 24, at 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Church, 140 North Avenue, Highwood, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Angie’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
