IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bruce S.
Pessin

Bruce Sherwin Pessin
May 30, 1951 – February 16, 2026
Bruce was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Those who knew him will remember not only what he did, but how he made them feel. Friends, coworkers, and family spoke of his kindness, integrity, and the comfort of knowing he was someone they could always lean on. He was particularly known for his humor and his ability to bring joy and laughter to ordinary moments — typically delivered through wonderfully terrible dad jokes and a knowing smile.
In his early twenties, Bruce met the love of his life, Kathy, and together they shared 49 years of marriage, building a life rooted in faith, family, and enduring love. He loved his family steadily and deeply, never missing an opportunity to tell his children how proud he was of them. He warmly welcomed their spouses as his own children and became determined that “Papa” would be the first word spoken by each of his grandchildren.
His friendships were cherished lifelong treasures, spanning decades of memories, laughter, and loyalty. Many of his childhood friends remained among his dearest companions throughout his life. That same loyalty showed in his unwavering support of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears, cheering for them faithfully no matter how badly they were losing.
His decades-long career in banking eventually led to some of his most personally meaningful professional accomplishments — helping local churches by supporting their financial needs. He faithfully served the Lord and His church in many ways, including as a deacon, treasurer, choir member, supportive husband of a pastor, and to his great joy — as a banker. He understood that ministry happens wherever God places you and he lived out that calling with faithfulness.
Above all, Bruce was a man of deep faith who loved Jesus sincerely. That faith shaped the way he lived and was expressed through a quiet devotion that spoke louder than words. While his absence leaves an ache that will not easily fade, those who loved him find comfort in knowing he is now experiencing the joy and peace he believed in so deeply.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen; his five adoring children, Joshua (Christa), Jennifer (McKinley), Jonathan, Jeremy (Kati), and James (Lindsey); and his ten cherished grandchildren. Bruce was preceded in death by his two dear sisters, Sandra and Bonnie.
A Celebration of Life will take place on May 2nd, 2026 at 3:00 pm at Redeemer Church - 1006 Gillick St, Park Ridge, IL 60068.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to honor his memory to consider donating in Bruce's name to Feed My Starving Children, Holocaust Museum, or Life Church (Gurnee, IL).
We rest in the quiet of peace and hold fast to the hope of heaven, knowing he is home with the Savior he loved and served so faithfully, and we look forward to being reunited with him.
