Georgia A.
Rycraft
July 10, 1938 – April 7, 2026
Georgia A. Rycraft, age 87, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, in Libertyville, Illinois surrounded by her family. A woman of spirited independence and unmistakable wit, Georgia left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her.
A Life of Journey and Dedication
Born on July 10, 1938, in Antigo, Wisconsin, Georgia was the youngest of three daughters. At the age of 18, she sought the excitement of the city and moved to Chicago. She eventually settled in Berwyn, Illinois, where she resided for 20 years and became a staple of the community.
Georgia was a dedicated professional, retiring from Local 731 after a successful career as an insurance adjuster. Her sharp mind and "feisty" attitude served her well in both her career and her personal life, ensuring there was never a dull moment when she was in the room.
Family and Legacy
Her legacy of strength and humor lives on through her four loving children, Cathrine Rycraft, Deanna (Dale) Pisano, Sharon (Brett) Jones and William (Karen) Rycraft. She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother to a growing lineage: The Pisano Family: Brandy (Kelly) Adcock and their children Paige and Luke; Rocco (Beth) Pisano and their children Brock and Carter; Vincent (Kohler) Pisano and their children Mila and Ellie. The Jones Family: Hillary (Alex) Davis, a daughter and Hannah Jones. The Rycraft Family: John Rycraft; Matt (Brianna) Rycraft and their expected child.
Georgia was preceded in death by her beloved parents Joseph and Anna Maly, her loving husband of many years Jack Rycraft and by her dear sisters, Marian (Richard) Wieczorek and Lillian Maly
Simple Joys and Famous Dumplings
Georgia found immense joy in the simple things. She was a master of Czech cooking, most notably her famous plum dumplings and goulash. An avid "treasure hunter," she loved spending her weekends at garage and estate sales or quietly crocheting at home.
She was a loyal reader of the Berwyn Life, a massive fan of the movie "It’s Complicated" and could often be found humming along to her favorite song, "Mamma Mia." Perhaps most famously, she was known to visit movie theaters specifically to buy their popcorn and nothing else.
Georgia’s home was never complete without her beloved dogs Oreo and Sammy, who provided her with endless companionship.
"She was known for her feisty attitude and a heart that was just as large."
Services will be held privately by the family. Georgia’s family will hold her memory dear, celebrating a life lived exactly on her own terms.
