Gregory A. Veprinsky, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and man of vibrant wit, passed away on October 12, 2025 in Barrington, IL, at the age of 67. He was born on May 5, 1958 in Moscow, Russia, the son of the late Arkadi and the late Lilia Veprinsky.
Gregory was the beloved husband of Yelena Veprinsky for over 46 wonderful years—a true testament to enduring love and partnership. His legacy lives on through his three cherished daughters: Julia Veprinsky (and her husband, Roman Zingorenko), Diana Veprinsky, and Alina Veprinsky. He was the doting grandfather to two adored grandchildren, Liana and Artem, who brought immense joy to his later years.
Gregory was a man of keen intellect and diverse passions. His skills at chess were legendary; friends and family knew him as "One of the best!", always ready for a challenging match. A lifelong enthusiast of sports, he particularly loved soccer in his younger days.
His collecting focused on the fascinating mechanics of time and writing, possessing an impressive eye for unique pens and clocks and collecting as many as he could. This fascination extended to his curious nature, as he always had to know the current time and temperature. He also held a great fondness for cars of all kinds, appreciating their design and engineering. His favorite color was green, and he made sure it was known.
Above all, Gregory will be remembered for his sarcastic sense of humor. He always had a joke ready, instantly lighting up a room and bringing smiles to everyone around him. He also had a memorable quirk—a shirt was never complete without a pocket.
Gregory A. Veprinsky lived a full and meaningful life defined by family, humor, and a sharp mind. While he will be deeply missed, his warmth, laughter, and spirit will continue to be a comfort and inspiration to his family and all who knew him.
