With love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Judy Scott, formerly Judy Carlson, nee Soderberg, on June 29, 2026, at the age of 82.
Born on October 19, 1943, Judy lived a life centered on faith, family, kindness, and love. She was a devoted wife, a caring mother, and a proud grandmother whose greatest joy came from spending time with those she loved. Her home was always a place of warmth, laughter, and welcome, where family and friends and an occasional new acquaintance knew they would be greeted with a smile, a listening ear, and a caring heart.
Judy had a remarkable ability to make others feel special. Whether through a thoughtful conversation, a helping hand, or the simple comfort of her presence, she touched countless lives with her compassion and generosity. She believed in putting others first and found happiness in caring for the people around her.
As a wife, Judy was a faithful and loving partner – twice. First with David Carlson married in Chicago and together for 45 years until David’s passing in 2007. Then finding James Scott for another 17th years, sharing life’s joys and challenges with grace and unwavering commitment. As a mother to Ken and Karen with David, she provided guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love. As a grandmother, with too many to name, she treasured every moment spent making memories, celebrating milestones, and sharing stories, hugs, and laughter with her grandchildren + a few financial tips.
Judy will be remembered not only for the love she gave but also for the legacy she leaves behind—a family strengthened by her example of kindness, resilience, and selfless devotion. Though her absence leaves a deep void, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving family, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her. Judy’s life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and she will be deeply missed every day.
A celebration of Judy’s life will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Center Church - 858 Technology Way, Libertyville, IL 60048.
In honoring her memory, her family encourages everyone to support Center Church (Libertyville, IL) and Suncrest Hospice (Northbrook, IL). And remember to embrace those they love, offer kindness freely, and cherish the moments that matter most—just as Judy did throughout her life. “Take it One Day at a Time.”
