Patricia "Patty" Cunningham, age 68, of Lake Villa, Illinois, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2026, in Libertyville. Born on June 9, 1958, in Waukesha, Wisconsin, Patty brought warmth, creativity, and steadfast dedication to everything she touched throughout her life.

A proud and dedicated professional, Patty worked for many years at Rosalind Franklin University in the School of Podiatric Medicine, where she was a valued member of the university community. Outside of her career, Patty found joy and relaxation in the gentle art of knitting, creating countless thoughtful pieces for those she loved. She was also a passionate animal lover, deeply devoted to her faithful Westie, Lucy, who brought constant companionship and happiness to her days.

Patty’s greatest legacy is her family. She is survived by her loving sons, Scott (Callee) Cunningham and Ben (Dani) Cunningham; her loving mother, Evelyn Shafer; and her cherished grandchildren, Van, Veda, Reagan and Wells, who will forever hold her memory in their hearts. She also leaves behind her dear brothers, Jerry (Kathy) Shafer, Tim (Margie) Shafer, and Terry (Patti) Shafer, along with a large circle of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Monroe "Dusty" Shafer.
